I recently took a girls trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for my besties birthday, and it was AMAZINGLY beautiful and relaxing. I already want to plan a return trip. If you’re looking for a vacation that blends relaxation, adventure, and cultural immersion, Puerto Vallarta has it all.
Beach Bliss
We stayed at the Hyatt Ziva, an all-inclusive resort that had its own private beach. Food, drinks, snacks, mini bar, and room service were all included. They have beach chairs and towels that are easily assessable with multiple bars. A drink is always available and ready to be in your hand.
The star of the resort, of course, was the beach. Soft, golden sand met turquoise waters that were perfect for swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding. We spent our days soaking up the sun beachside, people-watching, and just unplugging from the world. Not to mention, this is a private beach so it’s not overcrowded at all.
Our room was a double queen with an ocean view (rollaway beds are available and free at no extra cost.)We could also hear the ocean waves from our room when we went to sleep and when we woke up, which was so comforting and relaxing, to me at least. Just a beautiful resort and room overall.
Delving into Deliciousness
Foodies, rejoice! Puerto Vallarta had amazing food. A disclaimer is that we ate solely on the resort since it was already paid for. The resort had a wide variety of selections that I personally found good and fulfilling. I literally ate until I couldn’t eat anymore, basically stuffed myself every chance I got. We feasted on fresh seafood, savored authentic Mexican dishes, and enjoyed cocktails beachside overlooking stunning city views.
There are a number of restaurants on the resort. They include:
- Mexican (my personal fave)
- Asian/Sushi
- Steakhouse
- Sports Bar/Grill
- Italian (least favorite)
- Buffet (served breakfast, lunch and dinner)
- Deli
- Multiple bars throughout the resort
- Room Service
There’s something pretty much for everyone.
Adventures Beyond the Beach
While the beaches were heavenly, we also ventured beyond the sand. We did a thrilling excursion for a day and did ATV’s which was an adrenaline rush. The tour was about two hours, and had two stops. However, getting there and back was about 4-5 hours. I will say (disclaimer) prepare to be dusty from head to toe because you’re going through a lot of areas that blow up dirt. Other than that, it was so fun!
Also, they do have a restaurant on site, tequila tasting (which was amazing), 4-wheelers, and horse tours just as an FYI. They also have pictures available for purchase so I’d suggest bringing extra cash or a credit card to pay for it. To learn more about the tour we went on, click here.
City Strolls and Cultural Gems
We didn’t spend that much time downtown but from the little time we did, it was so busy and thriving. Puerto Vallarta’s historic center is a delight to wander through. I admired the colorful colonial buildings, and lively markets. Downtown had so much to see and offer. Also, Puerto Vallarta gave more of a family friendly vibe just as a FYI.
Unforgettable Sunsets and Warm Hospitality
One of my favorite things about Puerto Vallarta was the sunsets. Every evening, the sky would explode with fiery colors, painting the scene in a magical glow. And the people? Simply amazing! From friendly restaurant staff to helpful bar staff, everyone we met was warm, welcoming, and made us feel right at home.
Saying Adiós (for Now!)
Leaving Puerto Vallarta was bittersweet, but I’m already dreaming of my next visit. This trip was the perfect blend of relaxation and exploration, and it left me feeling recharged and inspired. If you’re looking for a vacation that offers something for everyone, Puerto Vallarta is your answer. ¡Hasta pronto! (See you soon!)
