I took a 5-day birthday trip to South Beach, Miami, for my birthday to relax, reset, and unwind. In this post, I’m sharing where I stayed, what I ate, and what activities made this birthday a breath of fresh air.
What’s the Best Hotel for a Relaxing Stay?
Residence Inn by Marriott Miami Beach South Beach was the perfect location.
- I stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriott Miami Beach South Beach for 5 days and 4 nights, and it was perfect for my friends and I. The hotel comfortably fits 4 people, with a spacious room and plenty of space for our bags.
- The location was prime, just a 15-minute walk to Lincoln Road, a 20-minute walk to the beach, and with some great food spots and a Trader Joe’s right across the street to pick up any additional hotel necessities you may need.
- Plus, the hotel provided free shuttles to the beach, two free bottles of water per day, and they offered two complimentary beach chairs, making beach time way easier.
* SOMETHING TO KNOW: The water pressure in the shower was a bit lower than I would have preferred.
Where to Eat in South Beach, Miami: My Honest Reviews
The Taco Stand – 9/10
A cozy spot just a block from the hotel, with authentic tacos made to order. The vibe was casual, and the food was incredible. Definitely worth a try if you’re looking for quick, satisfying food after a day of travel or a midday snack.
Front Porch Cafe – 7/10
I always make a stop here when I’m in Miami. It’s near the beach and has a good variety of food. The service was a little slow on this visit, but the food is worth it if you’re in the area.
Wilde on the Porch – 9/10
Right on the beach, this spot is perfect for a laid-back meal with great service. It’s attached to a boutique hotel, making it feel extra special. We went twice during our trip!
Salty Flame – 10/10
By far my favorite! Chic, with an amazing happy hour and a menu that hits every spot. Whether you’re in the mood for small bites or a hearty dinner, Salty Flame doesn’t disappoint. They also have a great happy hour menu!
Esquina Cubana – 4/10
A cute Cuban spot, but honestly, the prices felt absurd for the portions. The decor was great, but the food didn’t live up to the hype for me.Mama’s Tacos – 8/10
If you like Mexican food, you’ll probably enjoy this spot. It’s very quaint on the inside (and outside), decorated in Mexican culture. They have a great food selection as well as great service.
Insomia Cookies – 10/10
I absolutely love sweets, and it was the perfect spot to satisfy my sweet tooth. In addition to being so good, they have a wide variety of sweets that include gluten-free options.
*KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: In South Beach, they automatically add 18%-20% gratuity to all meals. Alcoholic drinks range from about $20 per drink on average, so mentally prepare and wrap your mind around that.
